It is exciting to note that I finished reading Jeremiah and am now on Lamentations! A part of me wants to read this book fast so I can get to Ezekiel and then to Daniel because I like reading about Daniel. But no, I'm going to take my time :)
While reading through Jeremiah, I learned more about God and His character - that He is just and righteous. I feel that people only think of God as this nice, gentle and loving God (WHICH HE IS!) but not that God is just, righteous and full of wrath. So reading the latter chapters of Jeremiah served a good reminder that God judges all nations - Babylon, Jerusalem, Moab, Egypt, Philistines, Ammon, Edom, Damascus, Kedar and Hazor, and Elam. I think we have a tendency to downplay God's judgment on us. I was thinking, as I was reading these chapters, how God judges me. I feel that hahhahaa, I'm really going to get it because I know that I've done things that made God mad at me! It makes me wonder when I am standing before Jesus, the list - that LONG list of things I've done wrong and sinful in His sight...ahhhh...all I see is that my eyes will be closed like so >< and feel pretty awful. I think it is very important to keep in mind that God is just and He will judge all our actions and words here on earth. It is then that we should remember that we will always need Christ - because He has taken the wrath of God that was meant for us on Himself. Thank you Jesus!!
"The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him."
Praise the Lord! :D :D :D

thanks for sharing your insights from the OT! I agree that OT shows part of God's character that is often not talked about among Christians.
Lamentations is a poetic book, so keep that in mind when you read it. Actually the structure of the verses matters (you can google and do some research, or we can talk about it)
