...but the greatest of these is love.

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)

Three things we need to have: love, faith and hope. But the greatest of these things is love. Why love?

Hope = looking forward to something into the future; Google says: a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
What hope means for Christians = looking forward to the day Christ returns to earth. Once he returns, there is no need for hope because we hope for his return and he did come. Our hope is in Him.
Faith = believing in something that you cannot see in the flesh; Google says: Strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof (...)
What faith means for Christians = believing in Jesus, though never seeing him.
Once he returns, there is no need for faith because we finally see him, thus affirming our faith.

Love = love is what remains, for love is God, and his steadfast love endures forever!

Therefore, the greatest of these three things (hope, faith and love) is love.
