It's interesting because this topic came up in my IT class. We were talking about social media and privacy issues (e.g. someone posting a picture of them "partying" and then got fired by their company the next day; those privacy horror stories you read/hear about). Then we got into the discussion of why students or people of younger age use social media. I was the only person in my class who does not have a facebook account (but apparently there are at least 4-5 people who don't in all the classes so I am not alone!!). Anyways, it was stated that the people who don't use these social media platforms are considered anti-social, not a team player, and well, considered weird by employers and other people alike...yeap...I just basically put my head down after that discussion looool cause I felt so...out of place hahahah...I actually wanted to make a facebook account right after cause well, it's true of how other people may perceive you like that -____- but you kinda need to know why I or other people deleted it....for me, even if it was an impulsive move at that time, I don't regret my decision considering I'm not what I was like back then. And it only helped me move on with life (to plainly put it). But yeah, I can totally see myself becoming more anti-social and loool I've been told I'm pretty dry now too -_____- I admit it hahaha. Ha! This just popped into my mind - the cost-benefit analysis...maybe a break-even in my case, though I'd like to make some arguments that I obtained/incurred more benefits than costs :D haha that is all for now! :P
