sunday service with PASTOR TONY COSTA!!! :)
and praise God that i had a pen in my bag so i can scribble all over the bulletin. i find it kinda odd that theres not section for sermon notes on the bulletins :\ buut haah to be honest, i only take notes when pastor costa speaks -.- so i'm now staring at all my scribbles. here's a picture for reference. this is gonna be fun :)



so, the message tony costa spoke about was Yahweh: the Living God
passage was taken from Jeremiah 10: 6-12

background info about Jeremiah. Jeremiah is a prophet. Tony Costa said that he had two duties - a double duty: a prophet to the world and to the people. *note: sorry if i'm confusing and that what i'm writing doesn't make sense - my notes are definitely not as accurate and better than pastor tony costa speaking - sorry!* anyways, Jeremiah attacks the idols Babylonians were worshipping. In Babylon, there were a lot of idols and Jeremiah wanted to let them know that idols are well, idols, and that they CANNOT BE COMPARED TO GOD. So in the passage, you can see that Jeremiah states that "No one is like you, O LORD". It emphasizes the fact that God cannot be compared to anything. He just cannot be compared to anything in creation, BECAUSE God is not made by hands of men. and if the Babylonians are worshipping idols who are fake and God is the living God, then why not worship a God that is living? God is worthy of due. we owe Him everything that we have. An interesting point pastor costa brings up is the definition of worship. WORSHIP = worth ship = contributing worth = worthy to receive praise and thanksgiving, and CLEARLY, THAT'S GOD. OUR LIVING GOD. God is King of the nations, worthy of ALL nations. and God IS wisdom. and where does wisdom come from? (source-wise), the beginning of knowledge is Fear of the LORD. As in Proverbs 1:7, it says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools depise wisdom and discipline"

Fools we are. fools we are. Quoting pastor tony costa, idolatry is idolatry is like idolatry. if you think about it, idols are like dolls. You can see those who worship idols takes the idols, wash them, dress them and they don't figure out that its acutally dead. here's the breakdown of idols:

they have a mouth; they can't speak

they have ears; they can't listen

they have legs; they can't walk

they have eyes; they can't see.

IT'S DEAD.

Jeremiah says that they are "all made by skilled workers" and we are "all senseless and foolish", those who worship these idols (in his case, the Babylonians). They are bowing down to what they made, not the CREATOR.

and the most beautiful thing, in verse 10, the word BUT. a conjunction and a strong word, it shows contrast to what Jeremiah was saying about the idols, keep reading verse 10!!
BUT YAHWEH (THE LORD) IS THE TRUE GOD. wow, take it all in. wow, Praise God. In Exodus, when God speaks to Moses (ex. Exodus 3:6), He says: I AM the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Issac and the God of Jacob" NOTICE notice notice notice!!! that He says I "AM", not "was". He is the God of the LIVING. HE IS. YAHWEH, the LIVING GOD, He lives, and he is the source of ALL life. He is the God who gives LIGHT, raised the dead, raised JESUS, and raised us from the dead so that we have eternal life in Him.

and the other most beautiful thing, VERSE 11! it was written in Aramaic. The whole passage was written in Hebrew, and yet just that verse - Tell them this: 'These gods, who did not make the heavens and the earth, will perish from the earth and from under the heavens." was in Aramaic. WHY? because this was the language spoken and understood in Babylon. this was DIRECTED to Babylonians. so that they would understand their wrongdoings in worshipping idols and NOT the true and living GOD. isn't that just beautiful? I find it absolutely stellar and beautiful.

and it comes down to this:
never forget we worship the LIVING GOD. He is the true and the LIVING GOD; and we are saved because He gave us an eternal life. HALLELUJAH.
and yet, we still sin against Him and we rebel.
here's a closing thought:

PLANETS obey Him.
the STARS obey Him.
ANIMALS obey Him.

WHY DON'T WE? why are we the rebels?

softballed after church!! yeh yeh! GOOO TOFUS!! before softballing, spent time with my church friends, went pho!! yums!! :) I like pho a lot. I like food in general, but had itis after! goood thing I exercised after!! and maan, I need to practice lots before i starting playing!! my goal, swing so hard that it goes out the field to the GRASS!! that's my goal!! yeeee :) annnd, I ran into a tree. I hit a tree. I walked in to it. ha ha ha ha ha -___- PRAISE GOD for great and warm weather!! hooraah! three cheers for GOD!! hip hip hooraah! hip hip hoooraaah!
