I’m thankful that I don’t have internet at home this weekend. As much as I want the internet to look at my e-mail and go on facebook – actually, I should cut down on checking these sites! – I like how it is quiet. I like how I have no excuse but to pick up a book or read the Bible. How long has it been since I’ve really dedicated time to read books? Or even the Bible? To be honest, I haven’t really done much reading because I always use the excuse that I’m tired and can’t open my eyes to read. Well, of course I am tired but I don’t think it’s legit for me to always say that… but for the next month (the month of April) I will be reading the book Radical by David Platt with my fellowship. I foresee that this book will really challenge me to think, to think, to think and reflect. I watched the promo clip and :|.
So what made me think this past week? I saw geese everywhere! It is that time of the year again, or rather, season; mating season! It’s cute and heroic hahahahaha! It’s cute because whenever I see the mother goose and father goose, the mother goose is always eating and the father goose just stands there looking around the area for any danger. The funny thing is that the mother goose is way fatter than the daddy goose, and the daddy goose – hahahahaha – he stretches out his neck, puffs up his chest – you know, trying to show the other creatures who’s boss and taking care of this mama goose. HAHHAHAHAHA! So cute. The way the daddy goose was standing and look tall, it looks heroic – you know, I’m taking care of my family and making sure that my mate here eats all she wants undisturbed... hahaha, heroic. It made me wonder if I would ever see a man like that – hahahahaaa standing tall and sticking out their chests – hahhahahahahah, those male models maybe - bleeeh.
Okay, but on a serious note, there is something else in my heart – Easter. It really frustrates me when I see how people associate Easter with chocolate eggs, chicks, rabbits, egg hunting, etc. – but is it really what Easter is about? NO! And even in my workplace, we’re having this scavenger hunt for eggs and for the prize…and I have to help with that. I feel that satan is doing a good job at diverting people from the real meaning of Easter. I’m sure people still remember it is about Jesus’ cruxification and resurrection and to ultimately be the atonement of sacrifice for our sins and to be the bridge for us to be with God and have that intimate relationship again – but it’s all hidden behind the eggs, the chocolates, the rabbits, the chicks. This means that we will need to work harder and harder to tell people what Easter is all about! This is the same for Christmas too! I’m praying that all of us will share to those around us the true meaning of Easter and what it is all about!
