today was pretty mellow yellow. A lot of accounting done, trying to understand it, making sure I memorize all the formats (impossible.) and the whole topic of am I doing my best pops out. What does it mean to do your best? Thanks to jorge-kun for letting me post this up!! :)

so if you are working too hard (overwork) can imply other scenarios:

1) you are putting work above Jesus

6:28 PM 2) we are stressed that we just want to work, and not trusting in Jesus

but the idea is that we do what we need to do (with the best we can)

and trusting in God for the aspects we can't control

me: would trying to get high marks be selfish?

6:29 PM cause there are times where i study a lot a lot alot and marks don't necessarily translate

but then i need to maintain a certain percentage

6:32 PM trying to get high marks and balance it with glorifying God is usually a struggle a lot of Chinese student have

I think for myself, there is pride in me to get the good marks, so i categorize that as selfish

6:33 PM while I understand for accountants, you have to maintain a %, so I think it is important to invest time in school to make that happen

it comes down to a few things:

6:34 PM 1) the reason behind marks, for myself or to glorify God?

2) are there any areas that God has been showing me that I should invest time on, but because of school, I am not doing it?

6:35 PM 3) if God were to tell me that I should quit accounting, and do something else, how willing I will be?

me: quite willing.

6:36 PM Jorge: I know people who really like accounting, the danger they face is that they find difficulty to "quit" if God tells them so

me: 1) reason to do well, to stay in school
2) i want to reach out to more people, but i find that i want to make more friends outside of my faculty :|
3) i am willing.

Jorge: and the other danger is that they focus on school so much, that they don't carry other responsibilities like serving... and uses the "glorify God" excuse to focus on grades

my general guideline is this:

6:41 PM I try to do the best I can (though I fail many times, and rely on God's grace), and if things works out, praise the Lord.
if things don't work out, I still praise the Lord, because I know He will provide a way if He wants me to do something.

so in your case

if you do the best, and trust God, and if God delights in that you are to keep doing accounting

you will be ok

6:42 PM but in the scenario that God wants you to mature in other ways, and use you differently, He will make that happen

6:43 PM overall, do your best and follow God
