no future.

I had an upsetting talk with a co-worker who just graduated from university. We were eating lunch together and I made a comment on how it's good to be in admin - you go to work on time, leave on time, go home, do your own thing. The reason I brought this up was because I haven't gotten over the fact that I needed to work for so long (silly huh?). His reply: "Well, you know, they have no future." WHAAAAT! How can he say they have no future? Just because accountants earn more money???!!! whaaat! no! so wrong! Money does not equal to future! So upsetting! Those who know Christ have future.

okay. some clarifications. haha I really liked the comment and I cannot help but to comment back! when I meant money does not equal to future, future = happiness (to me indirectly), so it was more of a money can't buy happiness kind of thing. I guess what I'm trying to say is any position is good. Whether it be admin work, a carpenter, a doctor, it's all good. In fact, we need one another for a company to function. We need admin. They're like the underdogs. And just because those with admin positions do not earn as much as accountants or doctors and whatever, that's cool. because they still have a good future. A shelter over their heads, food for their stomachs, clothes to keep them warm - that is already enough. We should already be content with that (1 Timothy 6:6-8). And in the end, future is with God, eternal life with God. That's the best future I can ever think of.

The thing is, money does equal to a future. Somewhere in this world, money equals life or death. It costs money to build schools, make wells...you get the idea right?
Try thinking in different perspectives. And you're right in a spiritual sense, Christ does and will provide people with a future. But sometimes as christians, you can't always think spiritually, because we live in a tangible world.
What I see missing in younger generations of christians is not the passion for God, but the lack of an idea of what humanity means to them. I mean, you can say you love God and trust Him alone. But what's the point of trusting in God if you can't trust others?
Just my thoughts, by no means I am right.
