day 24.
good morning, it is march 5, 2010, and though it is chilly outside, praise God for having heaters in our rooms so we can cuddle in our beds and wear tshirts and shorts!
love love love. I threw my shoe pretty far today (are you thinking whaaaat?). Not only did I fall and cut myself on the side (yes, bloody bloody), but what happened to me after visiting the OASIS "centre" could actually be used as an analogy and applied to life! So here's the analogy (it might be a tad bad, so please do forgive me): "I threw my shoe pretty far today" basically means that I stepped out of my comfort zone in volunteering at the OASIS soup kitchen in downtown kitchener. I helped out with packing five food items and sanitary needs to people that lined up for it - I did that with cwang and Jane (nice to meet you Jane!). And it's an eye opener - half the people I packed food for were kinda drinking and well, it was fun talking to them. Some things they ask for were quite odd. But I suppose it's normal for them (I don't really wanna write it out - it'll be odd). Anyways, Colin (in charge of OASIS) took us on a very cold walk around the area. Each stop we made he had a story to share. His stories all linked to the many struggles people face that go to OASIS center for food and shelter. Hearing the stories made me feel like falling into a hole. I mean, I praise God for everything. He has given me so much - and yet, sometimes I complain about my life. And well, compared to people who are addicted to drugs and have no home to return to, I'd say my life is pretty good (excellent). And I thank God for that. So I'm gonna try not to complain as often, and instead of complaining, I hope to just thank God for all that He has given me. It's gonna be hard, but with God's help, I can most definitely do it :) Thanks Jenny! for arranging the trip to OASIS. It was great volunteering! PRAISE GOD.
